BASIC & METERED PDUs
Basic PDUs are available in a wide range of power capabilities and configurations; however, they all serve the same function of distributing power from a single input to multiple receptacles. Reliable power distribution is a key cornerstone to every mission critical data center.
As IT equipment continues to draw increasing amounts of power, the need to meter current consumption at the rack is paramount. Metered PDUs contain a local meter to provide essential real-time information crucial for rack load capacity and balancing. This data is critical to insure breakers are not tripped by exceeding maximum current capacity. Additional information including voltage, wattage and power factor provide a more comprehensive power overview ideal for preventative maintenance and rack diagnostics.
MONITORED PDUs
Metered PDUs are ideal for monitoring power during moves, adds and changes. Ongoing monitoring for larger or multiple installations would be daunting without the advent of the Monitored PDU. The Monitored PDU provides site managers with power usage, threshold monitoring and historical data all via IP address from the comfort of their desk. Alarming of tripped variables can be accessed via email, SNMP trap, XML or local alarm. In addition to power data, many models offer the enhanced option of environmental monitoring. Information from multiple Monitored units and other units can easily be consolidated utilizing Geist's Console Management or Environet Software.
